Due to the depletion of fossil fuel reserves and the rising of their prices, restrictions in emission of waste gases into atmosphere, and the need to reduce production costs over the last thirty years, greater attention has been paid to optimizing thermal energy consumption. Various technical, technological, and organizational measures are undertaken to reduce thermal energy consumption. This study examines the proposals for improving the efficiency of thermal energy production in four thermal power plants in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The activities aimed at improving energy efficiency are consolidated and presented through five measures. To determine the optimal measure, the criteria for evaluating each measure are defined. These criteria are analyzed and filtered by using the ISM method, and while the fuzzy AHP method was used for their weights. Finally, the fuzzy TOPSIS method for multi-criteria optimization is applied to select the optimal energy efficiency measure for the analyzed thermal power plants. Additionally, the research defines the order of implementing the selected measures to improve the energy efficiency of the studied thermal power plants.

It is not uncommon for waterwork companies to use a lot more energy than is necessary for the functioning of the water supply system. As a result, even relatively small increases in energy efficiency can contribute to the financial benefits of waterworks companies. The paper presents aspects, i. e. the possibilities of improving energy efficiency of water supply systems in each phase of water supply.

The use of different technical solutions can reduce the heat energy consumption in industry and energetics. The paper considers how the optimization of heat energy consumption is influenced by the following technical solutions: increasing the efficiency of the boiler, returning the condensate to steam boilers and using the evaporator, setting the process parameters of combustion in industrial furnaces, heat insulation of the reservoirs, vessels and installations, application of heat pumps and the use of renewable energy sources and waste materials. Each of the considered technical solutions leads to a reduction in the consumption of heat energy and emissions of waste gases into the atmosphere

It is a well-known fact that the reaction of chlorine and organic matter in water creates carcinogenic compounds, trihalomethanes, which can negatively affect the health of the population if they are consumed for many years. Therefore, it is necessary to look for an alternative for chlorine. This paper discusses the possibility of using ozone in the treatment of drinking water in the "Tilava" water supply system.

These systems have proven themselves to provide a reliable source of electricity for rural areas. Apart from rural area electrification, pico hydro power stations are convenient for utilizing the hydropower potential of water supply systems. This paper shows the calculation procedure and the selection criteria for basic components of a pico hydropower station based on a Pelton turbine. The paper provides an example of calculation procedure as well as the possibility of using them in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For the needs of the production process in the refineries, a relatively large amount of the heat energy is consumed. One of the basic priorities of modern production in refineries is the optimization of the heat energy consumption. The paper presents which processes and plants are the largest consumers of the heat energy as well as where are the greatest heat losses in refineries. Also, the potentials for improving the utilization of the heat energy are considered comprehensively. The largest possibilities for reducing of the heat energy losses are in steam boilers, process furnaces and heaters, distillation processes, water vapor distribution, etc.

Dobijanje goriva iz otpada od posebnog je značaja kako sa ekološkog, tako i sa ekonomskog aspekta. Gorivo dobijeno iz otpada najčešće se u odgovarajućem odnosu suspaljuje sa čvrstim fosilnim gorivom u gradskim toplonama, termoelektranama, industrijskim energanama i cementarama. Ovo gorivo predstavlja kvalitetan energent koji se koristi za proizvodnju energije i koji zadovoljava kriterijume kvaliteta propisane evropskim standardima za alternativna goriva.

Potrošnja električne energije, kroz pumpanje vode, predstavlja najveći dio energijskih troškova u sektoru vodosnabdijevanja. U tom kontekstu širom svijeta se nastoje smanjiti troškovi električne energije vodovodnih sistema. U radu je prikazan pristup kontrole rada pumpnih stanica kojim se mogu smanjiti troškovi vodovodnog preduzeća, te i na taj način obezbjediti održivost sistema vodosnabdijevanja.

Emisiju u vazduh u rafinerijama čine gasovi i pare iz procesa prerade sirove nafte, proizvodnje toplotne energije, tehnološke pare i iz pomoćnih procesa. U rafinerijama postoje izvori otpadnih gasova i para čiji je sastav poznat, a emisija kontrolisana. Pored toga, postoje izvori otpadnih gasova i para čiji broj je praktično neograničen i zbog toga je teško kontrolisati njihovu emisiju. Nizom mera u rafinerijama može se smanjiti emisija gasova i para koji se stvaraju pri radu proizvodnih postrojenja. U radu je dat pregled tehničkih rešenja u cilju smanjenja emisija u vazduh prilikom procesa prerade nafte u rafinerijama.
- СтавкаNext-Gen Manufacturing: Machine Learning for Surface Roughness Prediction in Ti-6Al-4V Biocompatible Alloy Machining(MDPI, 2023-11-15) Košarac, Aleksandar; Tabaković, Slobodan; Mlađenović, Cvijetin; Zeljković, Milan; Orašanin, Goran; Liang, Steven Y.Mechanical engineering plays an important role in the design and manufacture of medical devices, implants, prostheses, and other medical equipment, where the machining of bio-compatible materials have a special place. There are a lot of different conventional and non-conventional types of machining of biocompatible materials. One of the most frequently used methods is milling. The first part of this research explores the machining parameters optimization minimizing surface roughness in milling titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V. A full factorial design involving four factors (cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and the cooling/lubricating method), each having three levels, implies the 81 experimental runs. Using the Taguchi method, the number of experimental runs was reduced from 81 to 27 through an orthogonal design. According to the analysis of variance (ANOVA), the most significant parameter for surface roughness is feed rate. The second part explores the possibilities of using different ML techniques to create a predictive model for average surface roughness using the previously created small datasets. The paper presents a comparative analysis of several commonly used techniques for handling small datasets and regression problems. The best results indicate that the widely used machine learning algorithm Random Forest excels in handling regression problems and small datasets.

In that period main aim of water supply system was to provide sufficient amount of water for the population and economy, so the water objects were planned based on the input available at that time. Upgrades of water supply systems were done in different scale, without systematic approach to an integral overview to a weakness in whole system. New concept of Water Utilities, which has appeared in countries in transition, changes approach where in old systems water utilities have to satisfy demand driven consumption towards the system where utilities start to managing with demand managed consumption. First task to use new concept is introduction of efficiency in management and maintenance of water supply system. In this paper there is presented the process of water supply system optimization by using software package Epanet 2.0 on real example of DMA Pavlovac which is part of water supply system under the authority of the UC “Vodovodikanalizacija” East Sarajevo.

Biogas se koristi za proizvodnju toplotne i električne energije, a digestat je našao prime nu u poljoprivredi. Digestat predstavlja visokokvalitetno organsko đubrivo koje se koristi za oboga ćivanje poljoprivrednog zemljišta. U radu su prezentovane osnovne karakteristike i prednosti digstata dobijenog u biogasnim postrojenjima u odnosu na stajnjak i veštačka đubriva.

In this paper, special attention is paid to the development of entrepreneurial knowledge, skills and attitudes through entrepreneurial education. There is an increasing awareness that entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and attitudes can be learned, leading to a more visible development of the entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurial culture in individuals and society as a whole. The paper presents the process of improvement of entrepreneurial competences among students of engineering disciplines. The process of improvement represents the approaches developed within Erasmus + REBUS projects.
- СтавкаREVIEW OF TECHNIQUES FOR LANDFILL LEACHATE TREATMENT(University POLITEHNICA Timisoara, 2020-02) Smailagić, Adnan; Simić, Stojan; Golubović, Dušan; Orašanin, Goran; Milić, Davor; Batinić, KrstoOne of the basic problems of waste management, which is in practice encountered in landfills, is the collection and treatment of wastewater. Their production, and therefore quantity, depends on the age of the landfill, types of waste, climatic conditions, etc. These wastewater must not be discharged directly into the environment without prior collection and adequate treating. Water from solid waste, as well as water infiltrated into the landfill, forms a medium in which all soluble matter is dissolved and which causes the movement of unreacted material towards the bottom of the landfill. These waters are known as leachate water. The paper presents the production and composition of leachate landfills, and reviewed the technologies that are most often applied for their treatment. It can be concluded that leachate water due to its complex composition poses environmental risks and must be managed in an environmentally friendly manner.

Oklasak kukuruza je nusproizvod koji nastaje prilikom korišćenja kukuruza. U radu se sa više aspekata razmatra upotreba kukuruznog oklaska kao goriva u pećima i kotlovima. Provedena istraživanja pokazuju da je primena ovog otpad-nog materijala prihvatljiva sa više aspekata za proizvodnju toplotne energije.

Povećanje energetske efikasnosti u industriji dovodi do smanjenja potrošnje energije, a ujedno i do smanjenja negativnog uticaja tehnoloških i energetskih postrojenja na životnu sredinu. Nizom mera i aktivnosti u industrijskim pogonima može se uticati na smanjenje potrošnje energije, a time direktno i na troškove proizvodnje. Da bi se smanjila potrošnja energije neophodna je primena savremenih tehničkih rešenja. U radu su prezentovana tehničko-tehnološka rešenja kojima se postiže racionalizacija potrošnje goriva, električne energije i vode za potrebe proizvodnog procesa u industriji.

U cilju smanjenja gubitaka toplote u industriji i energetici primenjuje se toplotna izolacija opreme i instalacija. Pri projektovanju od posebnog značaja je izbor adekvatnog izolacionog materijala i debljine izolacije. Pored osnovnog zadatka koji se odnosi na smanjenje gubitaka toplote izolacijom se postižu i drugi efekti, kao što su: zvučna izolacija, protivpožarna zaštita materijala i zaštita pogonskih radnika od opekotina. U radu su prezentovane osnovne tehničke karakteristike i značaj toplotne izolacije. Na konkretnom primeru je izvršeno praćenja uticaja toplotne izolacije na smanjenje gubitaka toplote
- СтавкаUTICAJNI PARAMETRI NA VRIJEDNOST RELATIVNOG STEPENA PRENOSA KISEONIKA KOD SISTEMA AERACIJE SA UDUVAVANJEM VAZDUHA U VODU(Mašinski fakultet, Univerzitet Istočno Sarajevo, 2020-11) Simić, Stojan; Milić, Davor; Batinić, Krsto; Orašanin, Goran; Blagojević, JovanaRelativni stepen prenosa kiseonika u vodi (α-faktor) je bezdimenziona veličina koja predstavlja odnos zapreminskog koeficijenta transporta kiseonika za otpadnu vodu i zapreminskog koeficijenta transporta kiseonika za čistu vodu. Mnogobrojna istraživanja do sada provedena pokazuju da α-faktor ima relativno veliki uticaj pri određivanju vrijednosti standardne brzine transporta kiseonika u vodi. Pri projektovanju sistema aeracije sa uvođenjem vazduha u vodu određivanje tačne vrijednosti relativnog stepena prenosa kiseonika je od izuzetnog značaja. Relativni stepen prenosa kiseonika zavisi od više različitih veličina. U radu su razmatrani parametri koji utiču na vrijednost α-faktora. Najveći uticaj na vrijednost ovog faktor ima sastav otpadne vode, vrsta procesa aeracije, konfiguracija bazena za aeraciju, položaj i raspored distributera vazduha, protok i veličina mjehurova vazduha koji se uvode u vodu.
- СтавкаWater Supply Network Renewal Strategic Planning Utilizing the VIKOR Method(MDPI, 2024-01-14) Orašanin, Goran; Simić, Stojan; Košarac, Aleksandar; Vasković, Srđan; Milić, DavorWater networks are critical infrastructure components, ensuring the continuous supply of high-quality drinking water to consumers. To secure such water supply, regular maintenance, including the replacement of deteriorating pipelines, is essential. In this study, a methodology has been developed for determining optimal pipeline replacement solutions in water supply systems at water utilities with limited data availability. Hydraulic analysis has been conducted on the segment of 25 km of the water supply network using the free software EPANET. Applying water network optimization, eight pipeline replacement projects according to 13 pre-defined criteria have been identified and evaluated. The paper outlines the methods for evaluating the criteria, including defining specific quantitative limits. The Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) method was used in the paper to determine the weights of the criteria. The reason for applying this method refers to problems that involve a set of criteria with a mixed structure, including both quantitative and qualitative aspects. Also, the paper describes the steps of the multi-criteria optimization method VIKOR, used to select the optimal project. This paper, considered as case studie, describes a method, i.e. application of a new principles and an innovative way to solve a problem for developing countries.
