- СтавкаA Critical Analysis of the PISA Mathematics Tasks(Faculty of Teachers Education University of Zagreb, 2019) Marković, Olivera; Pikula, Milenko; Zubac, MarinaIn this paper, the authors deal with a critical analysis of some of the problems associated with PISA testing in mathematics. First of all, the social, economic and political circumstances of the launch of the PISA project are pointed out. This is followed by an analysis of what the authors consider as very important concepts for understanding PISA philosophy, such as applicable knowledge and problem solving in a real-life situation. We compared two different ways of defining these concepts and showed what the consequences of learning and teaching mathematics are in each of the cases. The authors present the results of the research that was conducted with mathematics teachers, as well as teachers of other subjects. The research dealt with the determination of the importance and role of the mathematical tasks of the PISA test for students’ further mathematical education. The results of the research have shown that there is a significant statistical difference between the assessment provided by the teachers who do and those who do not teach mathematics. The paper also analysed some specific tasks that the students were solving in PISA tests. The authors point out some deficiencies and inaccuracies observed in the mathematics tasks on PISA tests, as well as the weaknesses of PISA testing itself.
- СтавкаA solution to the inverse problem for the Sturm-Liouville-type equation with a delay(University of Niš, Serbia, 2013) Pikula, Milenko; Vladičić, Vladimir; Marković, OliveraThe paper is devoted to study of the inverse problem of the boundary spectral assignment of the Sturm-Liouville with a delay.
- СтавкаFirst Regularized Trace of the Limit Assignment of Sturm-Liouville Type with Two Constant Delays(University of Niš, Serbia, 2015) Pavlović, Nataša; Pikula, Milenko; Vojvodić, BiljanaWe observe spectral assignment D2y = y defined by y00(x) + q1(x)y(x 1) + q2(x)y(x 2) = y(x); = z2 (1) q1(x); q2(x) 2 L1[0; ]; 1; 2 2 (0; ) y(x 1) 0; x 2 (0; 1]; 1 = k0 2 (2) y( ) = 0 (3) In this paper, we construct a solution y(x; z) which satisfies (1) and (2), and then (3) is used to construct the characteristic function F(z); z 2 C. Then the asymptotics of eigenvalues of the operator D2 is constructed. Finally, the first regularized trace is calculated.
- СтавкаInverse problems for Sturm–Liouville differential operators with two constant delays under Robin boundary conditions(Elsevier, 2020) Vojvodic, Biljana; Pikula, Milenko; Vladicic, VladimirThis paper deals with non-self-adjoint second-order differential operators with two constant delays from [π/2, π) and two potentials from L2 [0, π] . We study the inverse spectral problem of recovering operators from their spectra. Four boundary value problems under Robin boundary conditions are considered. It has been proved that delays and the Fourier coefficients of potentials are uniquely determined from the spectra. Finally, potentials are constructed
- СтавкаSpectral problems for operators with deviating arguments(Faculty of Science and Mathematics, University of Hacettepe, 2018) Pikula, Milenko; Čatrnja, Elmir; Kalčo, IsmetThe topic of this paper are direct and inverse spectral boundary problems of the Sturm-Liouville type with two deviating arguments, one delay and one advance. This type of problem was firstly introduced by M. Pikula, E. Čatrnja, I. Kalčo and A. Šarić at the 9th International Scientific Conference "Science and Higher Education in Function of Sustainable Development - SED 2016" and further developed M. Pikula, E. Čatrnja, I. Kalčo at the International Conference "Contemporary Problems of Mathematical Physics and Computational Mathematics" dedicated to the 110th anniversary of A. N. Tikhonov. In this paper we take both delays to have the same value and in its first part solve the direct boundary problem, construct the corresponding characteristic function and find the asymptotic behavior of eigenvalues. In the second part of the paper, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the solution of the inverse problem and give its solution by the method of Fourier coefficients.
- СтавкаThe effects of differentiation of content in problem-solving in learning geometry in secondary school(Modestum Ltd., 2016) Bikić, Naida; Maričić, Sanja M.; Pikula, MilenkoThe aim of the study was to examine the effects of problem-based learning which was established on differentiation of content at three levels of complexity in the processing of the content of Analytical geometry in the plane. In this context, an experimental research was conducted, on a sample of secondary school students (N = 165) in order to examine whether methodical approach designed on the principles of problem-based learning based on differentiation of content gives better effects in learning compared to the traditional mode. The results of the final measurement shown that the experimental group achieved better overall success than control group. The results suggest that the proposed methodical approach contributes to better student performance in teaching geometry and that the most significant progress is achieved in the group of students who are average in terms of success and with ones below the average.
